The Mounted Dept. ceremonial helmet (i) (this was the only one with metal binding on the front) was last worn by the late Chief Insp. Peter Ferguson. Although these helmets featured a King's Crown Liverpool Police badge, they were worn through to 1982 when the entire stock was replaced by new "Merseyside" versions which continue to be worn to-day.
There was/is no personal issue and the helmets are returned to the Mounted Dept. stores after each use.
The Supt's helmet (ii) was of a type worn by all senior Officers up to and including the Chief Constable on ceremonial occasions.
