Silver medal to PC44 Isaac SABEAN, for gallantly plunging into the river and saving a boy. He was much encumbered by his uniform and was helped by another man when nearing the stage.

Â£1-7s to PC 711, Albert HOLDING, for having jumped into the canal near Chisenhale St, with his uniform on and rescued a woman who had attempted to commit suicide. The constable could not swim and his watch was damaged.
February 9, 1877
Â£1 to James LLOYD, fireman for jumping into the Huskisson Branch Dock, a depth of 17ft and rescuing a man who had fell out of a boat.
Â£1 to PC William JONES, for his promptitude in climbing up the outside of a house on fire in James St and awakening three women who were rescued.
Â£1 to PC 106? James PARKINSON, for promptly jumping into the canal near Sandhills Bridge and rescuing a woman who had slipped and fallen in while about to go aboard a flat with a Sunday school party.
November 30, 1878
Â£1 to PC 129 Orris HARCOURT, for having lowered himself into the Salthouse Dock and saving a man who had fallen overboard while attempting to board a flat. HARCOURT was also awarded 5s for repairs of a watch.
Silver medal to River PC10, William PEGLER for having gallantly jumped into the river to save a child who had fallen overboard from HMS Assistance, alongside the Prince's Stage. Also a silver bar for having jumped from the Prince's Stage into the river on the 9th June and rescued a man who had fallen overboard and in great danger as he could not swim. This is the 3rd award for PEGLER.
